Influential Female Designers

Influential Female Designers

On March 8th it was International Women’s Day. I actually had no idea such a day even existed. In celebration of such a day I decided to make a belated post honoring International Women’s Day. I have gathered a collection of females who design and/or blog to share with you. This is a collection of female designers I follow on twitter, subscribe to their blogs, and just create flat out amazing work! These females are not only inspiring to the small, yet growing community of female designers, but they are inspiring to the design community in general. The following sites designed and created by females can be used as inspirational outlets, as well as design resources. These sites are listed in no particular order.

Funny you put Sarah Lewis of Design Enabler in your list. She says her main service is making your designs into WP themes but it appears here own site is using the free Notepad Choas theme (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/08/20/notepad-chaos-a-free-wordpress-theme/) designed by Even Eckard ( http://www.evaneckard.com/) exclusively for Smash Magazine.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

@The Obvservant One: Just spotted your comment (I’m a little behind on tracking mentions, for reasons stated shortly :) ) and wanted to quickly clarify.

As you noted, I mostly convert other people’s designs to themes, but I do a bit of design myself, mostly for my own projects.

Lately, though, I’m not doing much of either; I had a baby right before Christmas and he’s keeping me as busy as clients ever have. ;) In fact, it’s thanks to him that I’m wandering around the Internet at this gosh-awful hour. (Bless his little insomniac heart.)

The Notebook Chaos theme is a nice one, and is intended to be temporary, but client work pretty much always takes priority over internal work (something about shoemaker’s children…) so we’ll see. :)

Anyway, I appreciate the mention on the list (and don’t mind being questioned… I’m questioning everything myself these days!).

Sarah, thanks for justifying the ‘The Observant One’s’ comment and congrats on the little one :)

Drew, I am a huge fan of your work! I am particularly fond of a lot of your abstract pieces and all of the bright colors you incorporate. I dig it!

Jozias, thanks for the link to Rina’s site. I have never seen her portfolio before. It is really great. I will deficiently hold onto it for future round up of ladies when time comes.
